This is weird. The next photograph shows the Electric engines attached to these two rakes but you can't see any catenary wire over here.

... and the time (1000 hrs) explains the front panto!! The train passes thru the ghat sections between BSL & ET and ET & BPL during morning hours.

The text on the tunnel explains it all - the tunnel is a part of the Ukshi yard ! This is the reason the lines are double at this point. Again this is the only yard on the IR that is inside a tunnel.

sorry ..MAWDs where not left in INDIA by the british..it was left in india by the USATC...i.e United states of america transport corporation ..or something like that ..and that light arrengement on the meddel is soooo typical american 'mountain'type headlight placement..

I find a slight difference in the catenary mast. Just for the component used to suspsend the contact wire. There is a bend in it which i have not seen anywhere on IR.

Nice pics Nikhil,

This is an unique tunnel on the KR that carries double lies. This area can be explored on foot too - the road to Ganpatipule passes on top of Ukshi and Bhoke tunnels.

this is the NZM bound Swarnajayanthi Exp from MYS. the SLR was the original livery of the train, now converted to the blue/cyan.
