The name is derived from Kaala Kund (Black Pond/ Lake). However it has been corrupted to Kalakand (a sweet which is more a specialty of eastern UP), but which the town has adapted as its own.

Kachhwa Road is between Allahabad City and Varanasi NER line, closer to Varanasi than Allahabad.
