Just a clarification - there is no earmarked inspection car for the Minister of Railways. Their travel is usually booked under an officer's name, and the carriage is sourced from the "Railway Board Pool" of saloon cars, all of them based at NDLS. Excellent compilation esp, the "Build" Album. Quite an effort to visit each station and capture the scenes. Older picutres also add to the prespective. Posted by Dilip Setlur on 2013 Nov 21 02:13:18 +0000 |

This locomotive is from Abu Road shed which is written on the bottom line of the front plate as ABUROAD. This shed opened in 1966 and soon grew to be the largest metre gauge diesel shed of Western Railway which held 112 locomotives at its peak (both YDM4 and YDM4A). Check out this picture as well. This pic is from Charbagh Workshop. That WP from the first batch supplied by Baldwin is still plinthed inside. A copy of the picture also framed at Charbagh Workshop. But the picture might date back to late 80s or early 90s when DLW just rolled out its last batch of WDM2 in 16xxx series and WAG1 were still in action. Charbagh Workshop started diesel loco maintenance in 1975, and electric loco maintenance in 1985, though electric reached Lucknow much later
