Very informative , look at the way the Armature and the Field windings are connected , they are connected in series indicating that its a DC Series Motor implying that when connected across the supply Voltage the Current carried by the Armature and the Field windings are the same which would generate very high starting Torque. Akshay, even if WR adopts this layout, their main success of further remodelling very badly depends on 30kmph turnouts. For WR this is really very crucial. Even if WR would have made the turnouts at current layout of entire BVI to 30kmph, WR wouldn't have faced much bunching & detention. Lets only keep our fingers crossed for better layout !!! Is this a proposed layout by you or by WR? Also, could you pls indicate the benefits of this layout over the existing one? Posted by Shashanka Nanda on 2009 Jul 29 11:25:35 +0000 |

No Mandar,Pune-Karjat is still DC.The main proof of this is the DC EMU's which still ply on the Pune-Lonavala route. But AC traction will enter on this route definitely by the end of this year. Posted by Shantanu Khare (guest) on 2009 May 27 09:45:50 +0000 |
