Nice composition! Although it appears that the train is on a collision course with the stationary one, there is the almost-out-of-sight loop line onto which this train will be switched on.

Curve

The space on right hand side of the track looks dangerously deep.

The forgotten railways of Pune’s backyard.

We should rechristen you as 'The IRFCA discoverers' :-) Beautiful pictures depicting a bygone era! I can't help feeling a tinge of sadness when visualizing a YP-hauled MG train snaking through those bridges and tunnels. Do we have anyone from our club who can recount the MG days on this section?

Great set, Vivek. You cannot escape from taking me on a guided tour to Matheran when I visit Dombivli next :-)

Matheran Odyssey

Hi Vivek. Thanks a lot for sharing wonderful pictures. 551 differs significantly than 501. It does not have bulge in hood and radiator looks smaller.

It is definitely the loco built at the Parel Workshop. The windscreens are similar to those in the pics of the new loco in the newspapers. It looks new too with a larger cab!
