What is the method of transmission of data from the loco to the central facility? GSM based mobile networks looks like the only option since IR does not have any other wireless network at its disposal. If mobile networks are used, is data sent over GPRS/EDGE or via simple SMSes?

This system is still followed on most of the small stations. Appreciate the skill of the khalashi to get typical tone from the striking.

The trailing locos seem to be dead or MUE'd. If they are MUE'd then its a very rare sight of intra-shed MUing of locos as there is no crew sitting in the trailing locos.

Yes, this could be the case as Sachin has mentioned as the panto does not come down immediately at times, but gets lowered slowly. This could be a similar scenario. But, going from the pic I think shed staff have still kept the 1,2 position of the ZPT key intact for use in the shed.

All AC locos previously used to have 4 positions for purpose of raising pantos viz..0,1,2,1&2...when the ZPT key was kept on 1&2 both the pantos use to rise..however that position has long been discontinued..this position was particularly used by shed people for testing purpose but was never implemented on line.In this case it could possibly be a case of one of the pantograph getting stuck & LP not verifying the same before raising the other panto.Or this loco could still have 1&2 position intact.

OK so besides a WCG2, a G7 too can simultaneously raise both his pantos!!
