Just normal passengers Sid. The ghats are just so breathtaking they attracted many a crowd at the doors!specially the deep ravines(no. of them) are a treat!!

But sid,doodhsagar is just 27km in length havin a steeper gradient,This ghat is massive 55km long! 91 major bridges and 57 tunnels!

This is the same station where earlier during the day,the MAS Shatabdi was stopped and glass panes of the WDP4 loco were broken and L.P thrashed along with S.M.The shatabdi was made to wait 1 hour due to the mob. <the reason being tipu express was made to wait for an hour for several crossings which sparked the crowd>

Actually ur right dilip.Bisale ghats is traversed by rail and is part of the "malnad region" also. Now i recollect that i had been to the Bisale ghat by bike since my friend stays here.and remember seeing tracks(should be M.G)back then.

Wonderful pictures of the new train. We may have to wait for few more months for full daylight pictures of the ghats . A slight correction - The rail route traverses through the "Bisale Ghats" whereas the NH takes the Shiradi Ghats. Dilip Setlur
