I had spotted it on 2nd June 2006. It was part of a banker twin set at KJT alongwith stable-mate 20156. Both were bankers for my IC.

The good old little boy has found home at last. Nice of CLW to have preserved the YAM1. Thanks for the pics from CLW.

Good to note that CRJ now has a Loco Park as well. Where is this located? Near the Technical Training School grounds (Near Amladahi) or elsewhere? When was this inaugurated? Thanks for the pics.

Perfect composition. This is the best angle to capture a loco. Forceing the F stop to 2.6 would result in more even exposure.

Great to see the YAM 1 preserved to almost it's original status. Could have displayed it in a continuous track though. Any news of the other preserved loco, 21913?

As far as I'm aware and of what I recall, this class of loco was very much in service on WR (Bandra shed) all the way till the mid to late 80's. Also, I think this class entered service well before the 70's - JL Daboo's book should be able to confirm that fact. Obviously DLW hasnt paid heed to what its original livery was - theyve simply gone and slapped on a run of the mill contemporary livery - a shame!

Forgot to mention that the latter ticket was for the Matara-Trincomalee express which seems to have the longest run of any Sri Lankan passenger service. The trip takes about 16 hours.

Is this Yeswantpur or Yelahanka? If YNK, this is an NG coach maintenance area. An old photo: http://www.irfca.org/gallery/Steam/MickPope/yel.jpg.html
