Gasoline motor cars used by Karachi tramways, 1907. Simple open cars with canopy roofs supported by iron stanchions. Engine control is from either end by a simple system of rods and levers (behind the dashhboard at either end. The engine is at right angles to the length of the cars, so that bevel gear transmission is not needed; further it is supported by springs, so that the engine vibrations are greatly reduced. The cars were described as being "simple enough" for the "natives" to operate - and therefore a number of native motormen and brakemen were employed in running these.
