Two different trains with same route, same start and destination stations, same type of rake, same loco series spotted at the same time...

Train Route: Rajendra Nagar, Patna to LTT Mumbai, Mumbai CST
Location: 4th and 6th Line at Vidyavihar Station, Mumbai
Date: 10th April 2011

@Tushar... prized catch!

Brilliant Capture, the Traction Masts supporting the 1500V DC OHE are of the SNCF design, thank you for sharing this pic.

13201 must have been terribly late because its scheduled arrival in LTT is 11.30, whereas that of 12142 is 15.30.

Good catch.

If i'm not wrong, I think 13201 was short terminated at TNA.

Superb catch!!

One of the rarest captures!! Brilliant!

What is the location of this picture?
Posted by Dr.Jitendra Mulky on 2011 Apr 12 05:27:20 +0100
Dear Mulky Sir, This location, is facing Ghatkopar. On the left of this pic, the Vidyavihar platform, ends exactly.

Very nice.

Then Ranjeet is wrong when he claims that 13201 was terminated at Thane.

OMG! Their is rail-fracture in turnout! And to the left of gangman there is a single, rail laid on sleeper. What purpose does it serve? And catenary vanishes in mid-air..
Posted by Aamod on 2011 Apr 13 16:26:48 +0100
This pic is a fake. Look at the OHE laid above the track between the 2 locos and thats the dead giveaway. Wonder why the mods havent spotted this till now.
Posted by Harsh Dinesh on 2011 Apr 13 16:41:52 +0100
Dear Harsh,
The Image is not a fake, actually both the trains came in together at Vidyavihar on 4th and 6th lines and there were many more who have seen this event personally apart from railfans who were present. There are series of further pics which shows the coaches of both the trains moving together. However for your comment, let me highlight that the portion where you see the train on the sixth line has been zoomed up to highlight the main event and later stitched... hence you see the OHE half cut.
If the moderators, don't feel it right, they can delete it.

Perhaps not fake..but certainly misleading.

This is absolutely not a fake picture nor misleading. Thank you!

This image is not "fake" but photoshopped to give a false impression of dramatic "parallel action". Look at catenary poles and OHE wires around the center of the image, they disappear into thin air! If you are stitching two or more images into one photo, at least take care to maintain continuity.

Karan - I would like you to think twice before throwing words out. Time and again this has been observed in you.
First of all, Nobody here is interested in providing a fake picture representing any sort of "dramatic action" to anyone here and "Win Any Brownie Points" here from all people in the forum. I completely agree, bit more care could have been taken while photoshopping / stitching and then representing the picture. But I certainly feel your sentence "but photoshopped to give a false impression of dramatic 'parallel action'" is really discouraging and accusatory, especially when people have virtually drained themselves out in the scorching sun and dirtiest humid weather at 2:30pm; counting minutes and seconds, for the 1st ever train. Certainly there is better way to state your comments.
And to prove this to you and everyone, who is questioning Tushar's intentions of "producing a fake picture" - Let me clarify, I myself witnessed this. I also saw both of the trains moving...

I also saw both of the trains moving parallel to each other, but unfortunately, I couldn't capture it, as I was busy capturing the new track layouts as well as continously fighting against the hotter and humid weather.
With this, I stop my statement here. Its now purely upto you all people, whether to take this or not. But fact remains a fact and no one can deny it.
Moderators - If you feel, I have been harsh here, then I apologise for the same. If you feel, I have violated the guidelines, while trying to prove the worth of this picture, I accept your any decision on the same.

Vijay, relax. No need to get so charged up. This photo is incorrectly stitched as is evident at the center and you like it or hate it, that's a fact. If both trains were indeed running exactly parallel as this photo makes out to be, the stitching would not have a discontinuity. I really appreciate all of you taking the pains to cover this event, I was just pointing out the error from a photography point of view. Please cool down.
Posted by Karan Desai on 2011 Apr 20 05:42:14 +0100
Karan - 1stly, Thanks for your compliments. Secondly, I am not charged up, still on 1500V DC only ;-). Thirdly and honestly speaking, what you now have said is same as what you earlier tried to say. But this time, its really gentle and subtle. This is what I meant to point out to you. Yes I agree, there is an error in the pic, and is a fact and ofcourse cannot be denied. But as I said, there is a way to convey your opinion, especially when interacting in a forum like IRFCA. Pls excuse me, if I had sounded rude, no such intentions here. Take care.

Good Capture ! Wish I would've been there to witness all this. One more thing I pointed out that rake of 2142 cant be so short ;-) Anyways a good attempt to stich the pictures. Perfect stiching of pictures having electric poles and wires is always difficult.

Have to see this live to believe that my 25-yr old dream of seeing AC-type masts in and around Ghatkopar-Kurla has finally come true! So, can we expect to have parallel action between long-distance trains in the Thane-LTT section?
Posted by Mani Vijay on 2011 Apr 21 17:31:15 +0100
Mani you should visit this place and I hope you should be lucky to get parallel action at same time. Chaitanya, come on 01JUN i.e. Deccan Queen birthday and capture the birthday girl at this point. If you want company, there is Deep Soni.
Posted by Arzan Kotval on 2011 Apr 21 17:36:14 +0100
Mani - just day before yesterday, while returning from office at night from Kanjurmarg towards Thane, I happened to see a WCAM3 hauled train to LTT, at Bhandup, immediately, being overtaken by Udyan hauled by WDP4. It was a beautiful race between an Electrifying Electric Loco and Mighty Diesel Loco ;-)
