Superb colors. Differing shades of red and grey complement the differing shades of green.

"Front panto up, a rare sight", Would half of the time for a to and fro ride in any section, the front panto of any WCAxx loco, not be up ? Or am I missing something?

Posted by Ashish Kuvelkar on 2009 Jul 22 10:15:26 +0000

Milind, To simplify what Ashish says, one panto will be AC and one will be DC. So there are 50% chances that any CAM loco will have the front panto up.

My General observation: DC Panto are facing (<) KJT/IGP Side. AC Panto are facing (>) CSTM Side. This is valid for CR, not sure for WR. This means a train departs CSTM has rear (DC) panto up and train departs IGP has front (AC) Panto Up.

@Harish: Defintely not possible Harish. WCAM/G locos continously traverse on the triangular sections near Diva / Panvel / Vasai / Panvel / Karjat. Hence they do get reversed very often. Hence Panto positions for bi-current locos need not be fixed as you say.
