I think that the locomotive No. 31 in the picture is a 2-4-0 tender engine of North Western Railway (NWR). The structure in the backdrop with columns and turrets is very similar to many others that came about for strategic defence in the aftermath of 1857 mutiny. The location could be one of the rivers in western Punjab.

Great to see a document displaying schedule of 1500V DC EMU's in between Borivali and Virar as BBCIR were one of the first Railway Companies to construct classic 1500V DC Substations employing Grid Controlled Glass Bulb Mercury Arc Rectifiers than the traditional Rotary Converters post commissioning of Borivali-Virar section to 1500V DC, thank you for sharing this :-)

The 2 Dn Delhi Mail and the 4 Dn, Delhi Express followed almost the same timings, till they were put under diesel traction in 1974 & 1976 respectively. Till then, locos were YPs : ABR Shed from the ADI - AII section and BKI for the AII-DE Sections ( DE was the code for Delhi Jn. MG). Thanks all, these a really super .

Chhota Hazri - Very Interesting! During the days of the Raj, Chhota Hazri would mean breakfast or a very light meal - hardly used nowadays!!

The schedule of the Ranee is missing from the timetable. I thought it was discontinued only during WW II.
