In the previous 2-3 photos of KK, I've been noticing the twins are WDM 3D-WDM 3A. Has this unusual combination been regularized for KK? Earlier it used to be either 3A twins or 3D twins.

This loco has a small diesel engine driven Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) in the short hood. That explains the extra grills.
