This looks ghastly! The poor old NDM1! Apurva, is this actualy in service since you mentioned the cummins engine being retrofitted on it? If so, any more units in use apart from 501?

Apurva (iti@vsnl.com)

Retrofitting of a Cummins engine (and its associated radiator) in the slot of the original MWM prime mover has resulted in this strange looking hood design.

Very old 1988 coach. Probably converted from VB and retrofitted with emergency exits. Peculiar paint scheme, though. Reminds me of the Mysore - Nizamuddin Swarna Jayanthi livery.

Surprising that even 'ordinary' passenger trains have such colourful liveries.

She is really a beauty. The consept of moving the headlamps in a WAP loco to the top is a new idea and gives a fresh look. I guess, that they should try with a pair of headlamps in the waist level in the sides, like in a car.

I am not sure wether the steam engines are being stopped. It looks like they might. Reading an article by Monisha in jetwings, perhaps they would.
But there seem to be some effort to make it a world herritage transport like Darjeeling train. Hope they would suceed.
You can read her complete article in my website.
