This kind of sheer, narrow cutting makes life difficult for would be gauge converters

Hope their life becomes impossible !

It was worth going all the way for just this scene

Indeed, it was worth.

Mohan, Thanx a zillion for this wonderful set of snaps. :-)

794 on the Pamban Viaduct with Rameshwaram Island in the background

Beautiful snap.

Now, is the middle coach (3rd) an SLR? If it is, then its interesting to see it mid-rake.

The ultimate ignominy as the road bridge simply soars over the railway

Beautiful snap..

Looks as if the road bridge has been planned well with adequate clearance for future electrification..

I assume that the train coming in the distance is the CSTM-bound Mandovi led by a WDP-4 while the one waiting on platform #2 is the MAO-bound Konkan Kanya.

PA KKanya

Looking at this (http://www.irfca.org/gallery/Uploads/200605241147u.jpg.html) snap in the gallery, I find that the new foot overbridge has come up quite fast. This means that the second platform can be used on a regular basis for passenger trains now. Earlier, this was just used as a service platform for freight, maintenance vehicles, crossings, etc.
