We should show this snap to people who designed the jumbo's cab(or was it first of all "designed" ?).Also note the LCD speedometer.

Builder CRC stands for Changchun Railway vehicle Co., Ltd. I believe it is China Based company.

The view is better than the Jumbo's because there is no short hood. But there seems to be some amount of clutter from the instrument/control panel. That way the WDP4/WDG4s are far better to drive cab-forward!

So is this a GM cousin of the WDP4/WDG4 ?

You are right. Normally 2 locos are only kept live in VSKP-Kirandul direction in spite of the upgradient for most of the part. This arrangement is done as rake is empty towards Kirandul direction. In return journey loaded rakes need additional braking power hence all three locos are live.

Looks like Pakistan Railways incorporated General Electric's Bright Star Micro Processor unit into their loco's much before we did. This is the exact same unit found on WDM3D and the latest lot of WDG3A Shakti locomotives

Dear all,
Sorry for late reply, just logged in now. Didn't have enough time to position myself for proper framing, and to check the wheel alignment or the exact loco class specified

Looks so different! The siding occupied by the oil tanker is now occupied by regular WAP4s, WAM4P/6PEs

The crown sitting elegantly on the exhaust pipe, does add a regal touch to YP 2579. There's a sense of pride attached to a steam loco thats sadly missing from its diesel and electic counterparts. Thanks a lot John, for these pictures.

W/B is Whistle/Bridge. There is a bridge further down the line. Moreover, the train is on a curve. A similar sign is also before the road-cum-rail bridge over River Godavari.
