Correct me if I’m wrong but was this not BIA's old livery? Posted by Siddhartha Ganesh on 2008 Feb 24 16:00:07 +0000 |

Aah! The blue and white fever catches up with electrics too! As Binai said, a little bit of more snazziness would make this a really awesome livery! Posted by Karan Desai on 2008 Feb 24 14:48:28 +0000 |

No.6 lever in the centre is the master lever of the ground frame. It has a lock which is unlocked by a key issued by the Station Master.Once the key is inserted and turned, the lever can be pulled which in turn unlocks the rest of the levers for further operation. This prevents the operation of the levers by unauthorised personnel. While a Neal's Ball Token Instrument may have been provided in the office, this is not a Token Instrument in the picture. This is a Key Interlocking system wherein the keys in their respective locks are used to unlock various signals and points. For example,if the Home signal of Line No.1 is to be taken Off then the key for the same would be removed from the lock and given to a pointsman who would take the key to the signal post and unlock the signal and lower it.Once the signal is lowered, the key cannot be removed till the signal is again at On.Once the train has passed, the signal is normalised and the key removed and taken back to the SM.This is a very rudimentary system of interlocking and also time-consuming and is used only on lines with light traffic. The coach looks great in the livery. This is not the original livery for the Ganga Kaveri, rather, an 'adopted' one. The original combination - red on top and at windows, blue below windows, two blue stripes above windows, one yellow stripe below windows. Posted by Mani Vijay on 2008 Feb 23 23:11:25 +0000 |
