Nilgiri Mountain Railways- A Heaven in the Hills

Lovely set of pics. Thanks for sharing. The last one is very moving. Possibly, lamenting what we missed out in our childhood.

Actually, Triambak Ojha has given us all a preview of what fun to expect and have during the next year's convention. Look forward to UAM-2014.

On the up-hill journey on this line, the train is pushed by the locomotive on the rear to avoid the strain on the couplers hence the LV sign. Look at the other pictures in this album carefully.

With location as beautiful, its hard to see why one won't fall in love or re-discover it, while being in these mountains.
Great Album! hoping to see more from here.

Why the 'LV' sign is in front? Or was it back side actually?

This MU WAM4 locos have been in operation since 2008 after the issue of the following Board circular: http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/railwayboard/uploads/directorate/ele_engg/Circulars/440_6_140708_11.pdf

This is a BCNHL rake, and not a Container rake. Secondly, spotted this same consist at Karjat Up yard as my DQ passed. The locos were just being opened up by the crew assigned, and would have left KJT after the BSL-Pune Express arrived. Probably would have even closely trailed the Pragati Express till Chouk, waited for the BSL-Pune to pass and then start.

How long has Tughlakabad been holding these WAM4s? And where were these transferred from?
