Another interesting thing I observed late - station name in Urdu! Nowhere in Mumbai would you find that now!

Interesting, OHE masts can be seen but no signs of catenary or insulators. wonder how long the crowd must have been made to wait for the electric train.

@Karan - In 1925, The 1st line to be electrified on CR was the CST-Kurla (BombayVT-Coorla) harbour lines in 1925. After that, main lines were electrified.

The map indicates an 'Ellora Road' station between Lasur and Daulatabad. Was this the earlier name of Potul (POZ) station ? Any more info on Ellora Road ?

Bradshaw from 1931 says that a portion of the Blue Mountain exp went from MTP to Bangalore too.

The photographer must be referring to present Elephant gate area. In Tamil it is called as "Yaanai Kavuni"
