Do you mean that the loco was scrapped by saying that,' it was written off'. Its not that easy to scrap a locomotive since an order should be given by the Railway Board after looking at all aspects of why it cannot be retrieved. Its a long process and takes considerable time. By looking at the position in which it is lying it looks as if it can be easily be put on tracks (if it is the loco you are talking about).
Also can you tell me what happened to the crew. By looking at the accident I feel the the crew have escaped with a few injuries since I have seen similar accidents involving WDG-4's in the past and the crew had managed to escape unhurt.
