Wonderful wonderful shot! Picture postcard stuff!! Howrah mail was the first train to be deiselized touching SER. The first train in SR to be deiselized was MAS-CHTS Mail. During the WDM 1 days, the loco of HWH mail used to proceed further till CHTS. Later, both trains used to run on WDM 2 locos from Gooty for many years. Later in 1969, Erode shed was opened.

Few days back, Deepak Murali blew half of my brain off with a diesel+ monsoon combo, now Arzan blows the other half off with an electric+monsoon combo. Wonderful stuff

171/172 did not allow passengers betwen BCT and NDLS in those days. From BCT, the shortest point allowed was Ambala Jn!
