Any 2A coach can accommodate 46 passengers and this one seems to be having 7 full bays and one half bay (with half bay occupied by linen cabinet etc) which is normal 2A coach design. What's new here that I am missing?

This appears to be a normal 2A coach to me... no difference in length.

Now it is clear why Simla Mail has composite numbers - one set belongs to the BG portion (Lahore - Kalka) and the other to the NG portion (Kalka - Simla).
