when steam were prevalent, people used to admire the diesels. At least in my area I used to see people showing disgust towards steam. But once they were gone people felt something missing. Who knows after a few years we might think of the same towards ALCo locos, just the way we think of steams and even WDM-1 and WDM-4 just for that matter

If the purpose was to bring AC locos to LTT for the next day's services I buy your logic. But that could have been done attaching the new AC locos at the rear of the train. I suppose there were more centimental issues than this. If we go by your logic then other night/morning arrival must have faced similar changes. Are there any other example like this?
