Somewhere in the hills is Kottagudi, the end point of Munnar-Bodi ropeway. The bodinaikkanur-Bodimettu-Munnar road (NH-49) seen as a streak in the hill in the foregrond is one of the most beautiful ghat roads in South India. The road climbs more than 3000 feet within 5-6 km. The topography completely changes within minutes. There are a large number of hairpin bends. In order to enjoy this route, you should take a KSRTC (not TNSTC!) bus and sit in the front seat, or ride in a bike. A few non railfanning pics from the ghat (also called gap road, NH-49) road:

This was Gondal state railway started by king of Gondal
In Saurashtra, Bhavnagar was the first and Gondal the second state to build a railway network.
2. MG era began in December 1880 with inauguration of the line from Bhavnagar Terminus (BVC) to Wadhwan (WC).Sir James Fergusson, Governor of Bombay inaugurated the line in the presence of Sir Takhtasinhji the ruler of Bhavnagar. The first train was run from Bhavnagar to Limdi carrying the Governor's entourage and guests. It returned the same evening- well in time for a State Bouquet in the King's palace at Neelambaug.
3. Soon after the line from Bhavnagar to Wadhwan was complete, the Dhola to Dhoraji line was also completed. Bhavnagar and Gondal states contributed in 2:1 ratio for construction of the lines with contribution of Rs.86 lakhs by Bhavnagar State and Rs.29 lakhs by Gondal State
