Hey Vrij, I saw the same wagon (maybe another one, but exactly simlar) at Madras Beach yesterday. It was in the middle of a coal rake. All other wagons had coal piled up while this one was filled just till the broken part

Picture 003

Interesting that some of the markings are in English. From other pictures we get the impression that all the markings and numbers on locos and coaches are only in Bengali.

Auto Load Sensing Device

In BOXN/BCN/BTPN wagons a handle is provided on both sides of the wagon which has two positions, namely Empty and Loaded. This lever operates a mechanism known as the Empty Load Box which is a set of levers which if placed on the Empty position reduce the brake power of the wagon and if placed on the Loaded position enhance the brake power of the wagon. In these wagons the handle has to be changed manually for each wagon while the above device does the same automatically in BLCB wagons.Another difference is that in the manual system the objective is achieved by a purely mechnical system while in the BLCB wagons the Empty Load Box has been dispensed with and the task is handled by the Distributor Valve itself.
The main advantage of the Empty/Loaded changeover system is that it gives an almost uniform braking performance whether the wagon is loaded or empty and reduces wear and tear of brake blocks and wheels during empty running and minimises chances of wheel skidding.

BCCI Ltd (!!) is Bulk Cement Corporation (India) Ltd. . The cement comes from Holding Company, ACC Ltd's mother plant at Wadi, Karnataka to bulk terminal at Kalamboli on outskirts of Mumbai (5 lakh tonnes per annum bulk terminal).

Nice. Is the generic name for this wagon BCC or BCCN? BCC is written in a stylish font at the bottom right. Who owns these wagons? Indian Railways or ACC?

The photo suggests that they could be the BP and FP pipes in all likelyhood. Its attached to a High-Capacity Parcel Van. Als, are both the ends configured in a similar manner with the electric tail lamp with “PAT-B” electrical terminal block??

Shiny wheels of the wagon and evening sunlight adds to the beauty.Just like Vivek said,in the MAS-AJJ section, short WDS4B lead ballast rakes have red cloth/flag instead of LV boards.
