They are MG EMU coaches plying between Tambaram & Chennai beach. Withdrawn from the service around last October.

Many thanks for the identification. This picture was in one of my family's picture albums. Probably taken by my late uncle, but we cannot be sure.

Information provided by Jojo Alexander - The station is Madras Park the train heading towards Beach (marked by B on the Board). On the side you can see part of the Ripon Building and Moore Market.

Oops!! My mistake. This is indeed Kandivli and not Jogeshwari

Abhijit, this is Kandivli not Jogeshwari. The railway quarters and the skyscraper in the background are a dead giveaway!

Also, note the track joining the up through line towards the left of the pic. This is the line taken by EMUs coming out from KILE carshed.

As you can see, the guard was not very pleased and questioned me. After hearing words such as
"rail enthusiast" and "unofficial fan club/website", he became relaxed and I could see a smile on his face.
He said at the end "that is welcome, but you probably need official permission".

am sorry for the previous comment. Actually, WR runs a EMU from CCG to BCt in the mornings. AM not sure if its still run, but I remember taking it from CCG to GTR quite a few times.
