David, the railway lines of Gwalior city in a map like this http://www.mapsofindia.com/maps/madhyapradesh/gwalior.htm were always confusing to me because BG and NG were not clearly marked. Thanks for clearing the confusion.

Vivek, Gwalior has always been important in history (Tansen was from here) and more so since the Scindias took over in the 18th century. And with the coming of the Railways, the Scindia State Railway (Narrow gauge) had the town as a hub with lines radiating to Sheopur Kalan, Bhind and Shivpuri.

Milind: The morning passenger usually had at least one van whenever I photographed this train in the years 1984-1987.

Jimmy: I've not been able to scan slides for the last 9 months or so, so this is my first slide scanned. Thanks.

Beautiful! That coach near the banking loco looks like an inspection car, complete with balcony!

Is little Samit there? The loco must have been really puny, compare the size of the kids and loco. Thanks a lot

Beautiful. Never seen an elaborate NG yard like this. You have some gems stacked from yesteryears!

Even the carriages appear to be in a mint condition. Must have been a brand new rake along with a new loco.
