Congratulations Harsh, you are correct. It is Mysore I&S and the loco a 2' gauge 2-8-2, Kitson built in 1922.I don't think they ran a public passenger service.

I should rather say this is an Ex IR ES class loco, during the time this picure was shot. Looks like it is handling a mixed passenger. Private railways operated passengers too?

Hmmm.. If this is not supposed to be an IR line and if Harsh's second assumption is correct, could this be a photo from the Achalpur - Murtazapur - Uavatmal line?

I am only guessing but would it be one of the 2' gauge 2-8-2 from Mysore iron and Steel at Bhadravati?
It does look more like a B/1 or D/1 from CR.

Krinish, this is a turnout (point) for this narrow gauge track. Its not like regular turnouts. Here, the centre portion, the track with the chamfered end, can be turned to either side, enabling trains to be switched to either track.
