Yes Sriram. The red one is used o equalise the MRs of all the MUd locos. As you know all the MRs in a loco are connected in series. Hence a single pipe is enough to equalise the MRs of all the MUd locos. The other one is BRAKE CYLINDER EQUALISING PIPE.

This is the smoothing Reactor, which is connected between the rectifier and the Traction motor. It smoothens the Pulsating DC from the rectifier to a Steady DC. Technically speaking its a Large Inductor. Another Box at the top of the reactor is the sand reservoir.

In fact it is called the main reservor and their are three main compressors which are not located in the HT Compartment but in the pneumatic cubicle which is just behind cab1 in most locos. Also the main Reservoirs of which their are four designated MR1 Through MR4 feed air to the whole loco and not just to the Brake Pipe

I think thats correct, Jay. I have also noticed it on Diesel locos and got it clarified.

I think the chain is for the manual hand brake. The chain leads into the cab, as you can see. Confirmation is needed.

21 tons, I guess, is the axle load of the loco

Yeah and the Compressor is located inside the HT compartment. It manages to make a deafening noise when in operation bringing up pressure in the brake pipe

this photo answers a recent doubt...the two hoses connect the independent brakes of 2 or more locos travelling light
...MR for main reservoir.
