Great work, Guys!! This refutes the widely believed notion that this route & all the associated structures (such as tunnels) were built by the Brits. But, at the same time, shame on IR was neglecting such historical plaques - hope someone higher up at Bombay CST will take notice of this.

Nice piece of historical information that.. Thanks to Apurva & the Pune gang for having made that happen.Maybe such trips should be organized along other lines having historical significance. Great work folks...

DETC = Diesel Electric Tower Car. This is a diesel hauled OHE maintenance vehicle with electric transmission. The 'Tower' is the hydraulically actuated platform on the roof that can be raised, lowered or even swung on the adjescent track. There is a dummy pantograph for alignment purpose. There is an all weather 'cockpit' on the roof through which the ride of the dummy panto can be viewed at speed.

Great Pics Apu! Wish I were there. Looks like the cleareance is tight for the OHE wires. Wonder how they will manage when the 25,000 V OHE system is to be laid.

The is closed by the railways, so no train would be sent on this track. The red flag is to warn the departmental works train that is on this track to distribute the material that gangmen are working on this line ahead.
