The "usual" Shatabdi livery generator car is very much there, though.

One of the older WAG-5s, with WAM-4-style side porthole windows and grilles.

Peter nice to note that you also visit IR's fan site. Peter himself has been involved in test and commissioning of initially supplied imported locos. You are right Peter about the identity of dear Hansueli!

Well, as part of the team which worked on the design and validation of P7, these comments are very encouraging. They are not designed for real high speeds, something which only P5 can do (P5 can work up to 225 kmph!)

She is really a beauty. The consept of moving the headlamps in a WAP loco to the top is a new idea and gives a fresh look. I guess, that they should try with a pair of headlamps in the waist level in the sides, like in a car.

This pic is taken in TKD electric shed. The mirrors were not used at all but the idea was inspired from American practice (maybe even European?) to keep a track on the rake behind. This is very common on US diesel locomotives.

this loco actually came second in the freight category at the beauty contest in april 2003 at NDLS. the winner was a modified WAG7 from Kanpur (CNB).

GZB WAP1 "Babasaheb" was winner in the passenger category followed by "Rajhans" a WAP4E from BRC.

Er, what are the side mirrors for? Nothing is going to come up from the side, this is not the road. Its not for reversing the loco; the crew would go to the other cab for that. Its not for seeing the guard's flag, you couldn't possibly see the guard's flag 40+ wagons away in those little mirrors.
