The uP based unit replaces the dial type tap indicator - the absence of the tap indicator is partly responsible for the uncluttered look.

I thought the one piece lexan windscreen was strong enough to take anything thrown at it - stones etc. Apparently not - the BRC shed fitted this loco with a stone guard !

This is one of the three AJJ shed locos that work the push pull MAS-TPTY-MAS Saptagiri express. Note the special MU connector below the letters '6PD' that is used to drive this loco from a remote cab in the front. The loco is at the rear of the Saptagiri rake when leaving Chennai for Tirupati.
