This locomotive is from Abu Road shed which is written on the bottom line of the front plate as ABUROAD. This shed opened in 1966 and soon grew to be the largest metre gauge diesel shed of Western Railway which held 112 locomotives at its peak (both YDM4 and YDM4A). Check out this picture as well. Traymbak, I do not recollect about BGKT. Later on the M4s were there. But in 1974, I do not really remember. Posted by Sudhir Moghe on 2013 Nov 18 12:51:21 +0000 |

ABR. All these YDM4A of the erstwhile WR were based at ABR. I guess these were manufactured in Canada. The YDM4s at the CLW. Posted by Sudhir Moghe on 2013 Nov 18 06:36:22 +0000 |

Diesel Loco Shed Sabarmati did not open until 1978 and even then it was holding only YDM3 class locomotives till about 1989 when the first batch of YDM4 locomotives arrived there. Posted by Harsh Vardhan on 2013 Nov 18 04:21:22 +0000 |

Abishek, 6339 was an NKE engine that, according to official documents, was scheduled for "conversion to WDS-6" in May 2012, so fits with its current shell condition. Posted by Dan Cross on 2013 Nov 17 22:12:39 +0000 |
