The middle of the radiator now lines up with the middle of the bogie, a good 1.5 metres difference? I don't think conjuring up that sort of distance by simply moving everything back a bit is very likely - it must be longer than the single cab model. Compare the number of handrail stanchions between the sandboxes it has (7.5) with this photo of a WDG4 (5.5): http://www.irfca.org/gallery/Locos/Diesel/wdg4_wdp4/DSCN6747_001.jpg.html
Wonder how hot No.2 cab will get...?

Drivers being closer to the windshield is not a great thing as far as impact dynamics is concerned-Though DLW may have fitted additional impact structures to the forward area in order to compensate. Great achievement by DLW though.

The cab is shorter in length, Naturally as it needs to have only one control stand. So DBR, Engine itself and radiator have moved towards that cab clearing space for second cab on radiator side.
As slope in front is reduced Drivers are closer to windshield too.

The radiator seems to have been shortened to accommodate another cab. I am certain RDSO and DLW cannot have made structural changes in so short a period. If everything is the same, including the weight, the loco will not need to undergo fresh proving trials. Lets hope the cab won't get too hot ;-)

Wow. thats fantastic man !!!! And I know for sure, that this is not an April Fools Joke, but a reality... I am very happy for the LPs and ALPs, who would be otherwise relieved from the difficulty of driving LHF on EMD locos.

Hope they have sorted out all the problems faced with WDP3A like high temperature in the cabin close to the radiator etc

The large air duct still obstucts the catwalk. It would be difficult for the crew to cross from one cab to another on the loco's frame - atleast not on this side. Here is a view of the infamous air duct - in between the the dynamic brake blister and the letters 'Indian Railways.'

It must be lengthier to accommodate cab. Isn't it.
