That will place Tinsukia mail close to Brahamputra mail, going by the last 2 digits and its route somewhat. I have laid my hands on some very old TTs as well as WTTs from 60s and 70s from the two DRM offices here of NER and NR. You people will see some great scans in the coming days. Once BG reached Guwahati, the BG/MG Assam Mails were replaced with the superfast BG NE exp. By 1979, the Tinsukia Mail had been speeded-up with a bunch of halts removed - Ghaziabad, Khurja, Hathras, Firozabad, Etawah, Shikohabad, Phaphund, Fatehpur. History of 84/ 114 : This began as DLI - LKO Express. Was extended to BSB on 4 days via Faizabad (84) and 3 days via Sultanpur (114). Then began a series of extensions/ curtailments - Danapur, Malda Town, Mathura via Tundla (cancelled now), Bhiwani (cancelled now). Just 2 years prior to this (1975), 156 Tinsukia Mail used to start from Delhi Jn. at 19.20 on Tues, Thu, Sat, and go via Patna - Kiul. 164 Tinsukia Mail used to leave Delhi Jn. at the same time on Mon, Fri and go via Gaya - Kiul. Posted by Dr.Jitendra Mulky on 2009 Apr 16 09:13:46 +0000 |

yes Gomti used to be Shatabdi then! Seems VikramShila used to be non-stop as well.
