Panvel side view

The chasm is about 60 feet deep. One will simply not be able to predict presence of a railway if he moves by 50 metres away from the bridge (Giridhar)

This is the entry into the tunnel from Panvel side. The tunnel crosses the whole area including the hill visible in the background covering a distance of 2.83 kms. The black rock protruding behind the catenary pole in the foreground is actually a cuttin

The mesh to prevent falling of rocks can be seen in the foreground. Rock falling is a common occurance here as mentioned by the gangman who met us during our visit. Visible as a tiny speck is Abhishek who got down on to the tracks (Giridhar)

This is a cutout to enter into the tracks from the top. The cement blocks seen on left side are to clamp the mesh, used for preventing the rock falling (Giridhar)

Nice set of pictures Giridhar of the least visited zone. I wish you could have spotted one action also. Almost the Apurva Bahadur style of discovering tunnels and ventillation shafts.
