The railbus, looking every bit worn out and tired as the Sagar station building. Both, no doubt, have seen better days.

This station is also referred to as the 'Ram Manohar Lohia' railway station by the local populace.

And yes, a message 'Please purchase platform ticket before entering the platform' written near the booking counter, was amusing indeed!

Jimmy, Shimoga was a very important town in the old days. Shimoga, Sagar and Kumta in this area were also part of a forest area. I am not entirely sure if Shimoga too belonged to Mysore presidency in the old days, will have to check.

The station looks so much like an old village bunglow. It is quite big for a small unimportant branch line standard. Any idea on the history of this line? Was this branch once operated by an erstwhile princely state, operating a lone railway line?
