A view facing forward on the mainline to Chennai: The BYPL ramp exit is the second track on the right side. The bridge in the distance carries is the line Yesvantpur-Salem line : YPR – on the left, SA on the right. Even after the MG-BG gauge conversion, the YPR-SA line was inoperative for many years due to the construction of a road bridge. Thus the ramp was constructed to connect the SBC – MAS main line to the SA track.
The ramp climbs to the height of the bridge while turning nearly 90 degrees within a distance of 400 meters. Even today, even after the line to YPR is operational, most of the trains still take the ramp. (Apurva)
