Semaphores galore of their past glory. The line branching off on the left is the Faizabad-Allahabad line, while I am on the Ganga Sutlej express on the FD-LKO line.

Ring on the semaphore - Indicates a freight - only line.

Look at the most left semaphore. It has a ring in its arm....what does it indicate?

mystery solved! this block of semaphores are not nonfunctional, but serve the trains entering FD from ALD side....

I think that these semaphores are nonfunctional. Well my train was just leaving Faizabad and is at the split and is moving towards the semaphores. On the FD-ALD line, you can also see one more single semaphore ahead. This may be functional though.

interesting yet confusing photo...can you elaborate which lines these semaphores are catering to...the block of semaphores seem to be facing a station, if so howcome movement of your train perpendicular to it???
