To Allahabad & Back
Photos from a trip to Allahabad & Back. Includes new photos of the Curzon bridge - By Abhijit Lokre
The Ziyarat express gets tangled up in the Rajdhani slots and pays the price. First up is the Bhubaneshwar Raj behind a GZB WAP4
Next to overtake is the Kolkata Raj. WAP1 22017 from MGS does the honours
Life on the up line is much more sedate. Vijaywada twins trundle in with a mixed goods rake
Again, a more sedate pace on the other line. Modified WAG7 27455 from CNB crawls through
As the Ziyarat turns onto the lines to Agra Fort, an express train approaches Tundla
The Ziyarat express enters the Yamuna bridge. The ramparts of the Red Fort at Agra can be seen
The TKD WDM2 picks up speed with the Shatabdi in tow. The Ziyarat express has got used to it by now....waiting for the kings to zip through!
Ajmer is an extremely clean and well maintained station. View of platforms 1 and 2
Same angle..another camera. Evening on Curzon bridge. Photo taken by Shalabh Kulshrestha
The entry/exit to the Naini bridge have these old structures which support gates
Road traffic on the Naini bridge too is restricted. The trains too have speed restrictions. A new cable stayed bridge has been built by the NHAI some distance from the old bridge
A TKD WDM2 speeds through Sabarmati with a container rake. This was minutes before the Ashram was due. This train stayed ahead of us all the way till Abu Road. Abhijit
Thats fast! The Rajdhani speeds through the Uttar Pradesh countryside. Abhijit
The excitement of a single line. The Ashram waits for the Pooja express 27 km from Rewari. The passengers and the RPF seemed a little bit too interested and I beat a hasty retreat into my coach.
Another station, another crossing. Ashram waits for a passenger train which arrives behind a LDH WDM3a.
Approaching the Ganges. An express train takes the curve onto the bridge near Allahabad
And crosses to the other side. The semaphore arm is down as the train approaches Phaphamau station
