This Electric shunter was "manufactured" by Electric Loco Shed-Baroda but apparently the idea did'nt work out and its now relegated to a siding at the entrance to the Shed. Its classified as WAB-S/1.
The overgrowth has a camouflaging effect.I was standing barely 10 meters away from it and did'nt spot it for quite some time.

Standard IR nomenclature precludes the possibility of this loco being battery powered as evidenced by the presence of the A in the classification which can only denote an AC powered loco.Further,at the time this loco was manufactured, battery technology cannot have been so advanced(at least in India)as to be able to power a shunting loco and a battery powered vehicle needs to have sophisticated electronics to be able to run the vehicle properly which again can't have been available at BRC shed.I think this loco probably had resistance control and also had a panto and a transformer/rectifier which have been removed.
The mystery is in the B which denotes the type of duty for which the loco is meant.

Good catch! What does the 'B' stand for in 'WAB'? Anything related to 'Battery' since there doesn't seem to be any space for a panto assembly ...? Seems like a good concept. Wonder why they junked it.
