No Srini Sir, the railway line runs east - west across the river at this point. http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=18.5287502&lon=73.8623446&z=18&l=0&m=s&v=9 I feel that this old stone bridge is to the north of the present railway bridge. And to take the shortest route to Apu's house, you need to go towards the southwest from the Juna Bazar Chowk which is seen to the southeast of the bridges and then cross the river some distance to the south.

This stone bridge shown in the picture above would be to the west of the Railway bridge currently being used. I am saying this as the Railway track runs north to south here.

This stone bridge shown in the picture above would be to the west of the Railway bridge currently being used. I am saying this as the Railway track runs north to south here.
If the new girder bridge was constructed in 1926-1927 time frame, then can we find out if this new bridge construction has got something to do with the DC electrification.
I think that this is the stone bridge one needs to cross while going to our Appu's house in Pune from the station !!
