The TVC - LTT Netravati express was halted on the loop line of the ‘Ukshiyai’ tunnel #29 on the Konkan railway segment. Just then, the mumbai - MAO Janashatabdi express came hustling & bustling with its horns blaring. As it entered the tunnel with its headlamp and bankers on, the exchange of green flag occured. Hello Apurva, thanks for the information. I was not aware of these facts. Now i am ! :-) That was the first time and the only time that I have travelled on the Konkan railway.

The text on the tunnel explains it all - the tunnel is a part of the Ukshi yard ! This is the reason the lines are double at this point. Again this is the only yard on the IR that is inside a tunnel.

Nice pics Nikhil,

This is an unique tunnel on the KR that carries double lies. This area can be explored on foot too - the road to Ganpatipule passes on top of Ukshi and Bhoke tunnels.
