Doesn't look like it's crashed....any idea why it's scrapped?

This loco had caught fire and was apparently burnt beyond repair. The way the paint has peeled off confirms the fact that it must have been a major fire!

The curse of number 8!!

I only hope the crew got out in time. It seems pretty badly burnt

Fantastic captures. I have heard that this loco caught fire while being transported, I am not sure though. I have also heard that it never ran on Indian rails. Look, it does not have it's fluted shels, though it is an ABB product.

Why were the doors removed? If they were salvaged, why were they replaced with sheet metal?
