@Aravind news is that trekking has been banned now after a college student died venturing too deep into the forest.Not sure though whether this ban is temporary or permanent.

Fantastic image. Having trekked this whole section, I knew that this last unending straight line stretch is one of most photogenic locations (after the ghats end). Just so unbelievable to even think there is a railway line up ahead in those mighty western ghats!
