OMG...this is hilariously dangerous!

Posted by Deepak Murali on 2010 Dec 12 17:12:25 +0000

@Deepak: Very true, but this is usual scenario in Bhor Ghats. These guys now have gained so much of confidence and perfection as they follow this trend on almost daily basis.

That is a superb freeze of the moment !!!

Superb

Great shot ashwin!!

Fantastic Capture, the Pantograph has been bent dangerously low due to OHE in the Tunnel, if it would have bent a little bit lower then surely tripping would have occurred, but I'm confident of of our Electrical Engineers who have taken every minute parameter into account and designed the OHE structures and clearances.

Lovely capture!
& finally such scenes, we had seen with WCG2 are common with WAG 7 bankers now.

Too good a capture. Truly fantastic!

Posted by Jimmy Jose on 2010 Dec 13 03:18:24 +0000

Fantastic.....was the loco going in or coming out? were there more 'passengers' on the other side of the loco as well?

Posted by Milind on 2010 Dec 13 03:40:33 +0000

Woww.. very nice capture...

Posted by Vijay Aravamudhan on 2010 Dec 13 03:45:25 +0000

Thanks to all :)
@Milind: The bankers are heading into the tunnel (Down the Ghats). These guys can be seen hanging at the end of the trailing banker or between the two bankers sometimes on CBC or Side buffers as seen here.

Posted by Ashwin Rao on 2010 Dec 13 03:50:35 +0000

Thanks Ashwin, I am sure the LP wont allow guys to hang in the forward direction of the loco since they could get crushed or whatever if they loose grip/balance. anyway quite a risky thing indeed.

Posted by Milind on 2010 Dec 13 06:41:03 +0000

Nice pic:)

Posted by Alex P. John on 2010 Dec 13 12:12:06 +0000

Cool shot....
but I am thinking of the three lady!!!!! How did they manage to seat on the buffer and hanged from the from the side?

Please tell me the location? And the nearest station?

Posted by Avishek Basu on 2010 Dec 13 13:30:34 +0000

Fantastic shot!

Posted by Bharat Vohra on 2010 Dec 13 16:14:40 +0000

@Avishek,
The location is the Monkey Hill Side Portal of Tun 40UP, of the UP Line (Aka)Nagnath Line. Right behind Ashwin, should be Zenith Falls Viaduct (#3), Between MHC and NAG in the Bhor. Nearest Commercial Stn would be KAD, But the nearest halt to get to this spot, would be from MHC.

Posted by Jainand Narayanan on 2010 Dec 14 01:10:19 +0000

Correct this is a midpoint spot between Nagnath and Monkey Hill.

Posted by Ashwin Rao on 2010 Dec 14 02:48:37 +0000

Great shot. Shows how difficult the life is for these folks living in the villages in the Ghats. To take this kind of a risk each day.

At this age, I would never dream of doing this bumper plating. But, looking at this photo, I wish that I had done the bumper plating (or CBC coupler plating) in my young days.
