Hi Apurva: Regarding the catch siding - do you (or anyone else on this forum) know if the catch siding has been ever put to use to 'catch' a runaway train or to stall a train due to brake failure?

Apurva (iti@vsnl.com)

The catch siding was used once each in the 1970s and 80s. Strict complianced to the operating procedure has ensured that no mishap occurs.
