This is quiet common on all intercity trains.

Ramdev, which era are you talking about? The non-AC FC Chair Car was a common sight till the early 90s or so - after that, they simply disappeared. Today, you can count such trains using the fingers on one hand!

@Shashanka Nanda, here ramdev gowda is right, its common in all Intercity trains.
In WR, right now 9109/10 BL-ADI Gujarat Queen, 2935/36 ST-BDTS Intercity, 2929/30 BL-BRC Intercity Exp, 9113/14 BRC-BLD Intercity and 9059/60 ST-JAM Intercity Exp have non-AC chair car coach.

@Bhaveen
The trains you mention are all Mumbai-Gujarat area trains on WR. Agreed these 4 trains have non AC Chair Car but that does not mean you extrapolate to include ALL intercity trains! And BTW, you counted 2935/2936 and 9059/9060 as two separate trains but they use the same rake! So, if one has the Chair Car obviously the other will have it too!

These seats are actually seats of ACC coaches replanted on non AC coach. The original FC chair car seats were much broader, had extra padding and could be turned in any direction you want. ERS-TVC Vanchinad Express had two of those with brown colred seats on one and blue on the other. We always used to travel facing direction of the train, or we used to rotate the seats and face each other. Venad Express and Parasuram Express had these chair cars till about 10 years back. There used to be luggage areas on both ends of the coach. During peak hours, even the luggage holds used to be filled with people. Why did IR discontinue these chair cars? Used to be very comfortable

Agree with Jimmy.
The FC in DQ used to have much broader seats, and had huge armrests.
I dont remember turning around the seats though.

Only revolving seats I remember seeing were in a MG ACCC somwhere in Rajasthan.
