Look the the numbering - even numbers are for DOWN trains, compared too today's system of Odd DOWN Even UP.

At that time the Punjab Mail of today was called the Bombay-Ferozepore Express. So the two Punjab Mails did not co-exist (from 1943 Bradshaw).

Was the present day Varanasi Jn known as Benares Cant at that time?

Dinapore is known as Danapur now. Similarly Cawnpore, all angrezi pronounciations!

Karan, 4 Dn Bobmay-Howrah Mail was so till 4-digit numbers came; Even=Down.
