Where does this bridge connect?

Vallapadam ICT to Edapalli - Both in TVC division of SR

An engineering marvel indeed. I suppose that the line will be electrifed once the construction of the bridge has been completed - to allow the freight trains to continue without a stop at Edapalli. The cost of electrification will be a miniscule amount as compared to the cost of the bridge construction.

will it be a dual line or a single?

Posted by Deepak Murali on 2009 May 11 04:20:27 +0000

@ Deepak - it would be a single line

AFAIK, a big interchange yard is being built at Edapalli. I remember seeing lot of earth work in February this year. Perhaps, this would be the "holding" point for freight on this single line.

The bridge seems to HUGE. Any idea as to how long the bridge would be?

Bridge is 4.6 km long

Thanx Jimmy for these set of pics.. looking forward for more from this line when it is completed and operational

The bridge has a curve too! It will be truly fascinating to see a container load on it. Jimmy, I think it will most probably be electrified.

Note the unusual design of the piers on the extreme left.

This seems so huge.......Btw why do they have unusual
design for piers at one end ?(A gradient on a bridge ??)
